Volunteering at KC Pet Project

Last weekend, we started our search for a family dog. We wanted to get our feet wet by volunteering with the Kansas City Pet Project first, but everything changed once we visited.

When we walked in, my whole entire outlook changed. We NEEDED a dog!

Not just for my kids’ sake or my husbands, but for the dog’s well-being too. There are aisles filled with a wide variety of dogs – all excitedly waiting to play with you.

What is the KC Pet Project?

The KC Pet Project is a no-kill animal shelter, paving the way for a “No- Kill Kansas City”. The organization saves over 10,000 animals annually.

KCPP strives to care for all healthy and treatable pets that have been abandoned, lost or abused in the Kansas City metro.

There are many ways you can volunteer with KC Pet Project like volunteering at the shelter, fostering pets in your home, feeding kittens on the Baby Bottle Squad, playing in the Playground Program, running with the KC Rescue Runners,

The Snuggle Service will come to your work or event with animals to snuggle with! There is a fee for this service, but the money serves as a donation to the animal shelter.

What are the requirements for KC Pet Project volunteers?

You must have…

Our Experience:

The staff of KC Pet Project is amazingly helpful. If you need anything at all, they’re there to help!

There are a wide-variety of volunteer jobs to do, so you are constantly doing different things. Our favorite is the Playground Program, because you get to play with dogs outside. …what is more fun than that?

We will proudly continue volunteering, giving KCPP animals the love and comfort they deserve.
